A PATTERN 1827 NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD, circa late 19th Century, with 29 in. single-edged steel blade fullered on each side, etched with royal coat-of-arms on one side and fouled anchor cypher over, ricasso with proved plug and retailer's details over, gilded hilt guard with fouled anchor cypher and folding guard, white wire-bound fish skin grip, lion's head pommel and remains of a sword-knot. together with its black leather scabbard with two suspension rings and gilded fittings, blade with tarnish and staining, hilt gilding worn, scabbard leather worn with little surface remaining, fittings loose with gilding worn, 34 1/2 in. overall
